Logs production from forests

What is certain is that the author does not understand the timber business map, leading to some slightly wild analysis.

What makes my chest tight is the information that the production of mixed forest timber (rimba campuran) is higher than the Acacia species??? This clearly raises a big question. How is that possible?

We know the producers of mixed forest timber are PBPH HA (Forest Utilization Business Permit for Natural Forest). As far as I understand over the last two decades, the production capacity (JPT) of PBPH HA has only ranged around 10−11 million m3 (please correct me if I’m wrong). But actual production is always below that.

Now, according to this news, which sources BPS, mixed forest timber production reached 32 million m3. It feels almost impossible for the JPT of PBPH HA to triple.

So, where does the 32 million m3 of mixed forest timber come from???

Illegal logging? Could it really be that much?

Or deforestation activities? Wow, and it’s happening in Sumatra again. What kind of activity is clearing the forest? Legal or illegal?

Moreover, 2024 is a year of celebration (elections) that requires a lot of money. Is there a connection?

Hmm, my chest is getting tighter… ah, I hope my foresight is wrong… ah, I hope the BPS data is just a typo, like the case of the idle funds in ….”
